My MacBook Manual of Choice – Yes, What Shoulda Been Included

Judging from my blog stats quite a few people have landed on my wouldn’t-live-without-it MacBook post via a search for "macbook manual." If you have bought a MacBook then you likely are as perplexed as I was when I pulled out the inky-dinky "user manual" packaged in the Mac box. Not much there…..the manual that comes standard in the Mac box is best used  as a drink coaster.

Now get thee to a book store and buy the Mac OS X Leopard: The Missing Manual, by David Pogue. I have the MacBook OS X Tiger: The Missing Manual (since my MacBook is an OS X Tiger) and covet the tome, also by Pogue. They retail for $35 and $30, respectively. The book title is appropriately named The Missing Manual, it’s so true. This is a big beefy burger of a user guide that does an admirable job of explaining the ins and outs of your particular MacBook and the corresponding OS, so make sure you buy the one written for your MacBook version. Pogue puts everything in plain readable English so even if you’ve never used a Mac before you have the opportunity to catch yourself up to speed quickly.
